Mission
To support the study and work of students and staff through:
- direct service to individuals
- educational programs
- organisational support including crisis response and conflict resolution
The University Counselling Service has a strong commitment to delivering quality professional practices. Key aspects of quality assurance are outlined below.
Accreditations
The University Counselling Service is fully accredited by the International Association of Counseling Services (Inc) (IACS)

Advisory Committee
The service has an Advisory Committee with representatives from all teaching divisions, the Student Guild and staff unions. Details of current membership will be supplied upon request to the Head.
Client Feedback
The service systematically gathers client feedback on all aspects of service provision via client surveys. Feedback also comes via the Advisory Committee. In addition, the Head of Counselling is always keen to receive formal or informal feedback from any source.
Complaints
Any client dissatisfied with any aspect of service delivery is encouraged to raise concerns with the Head of the Service should any matter not be satisfactorily resolved in discussion with the staff member concerned.
Service Planning
The service engages in systematic planning which is formalised within the University's normal planning cycle.
Staff Profile
The staff within the counselling service are well qualified, bring a wide range of expertise and experience to their positions and come from a wide range of cultural backgrounds.
This diversity greatly enhances the level of service available to clients.
