Personal Crises
During normal office hours
A service is available for clients who need to be seen urgently. Clients can "drop in" or phone and ask to speak to the Appointments Counsellor.
The Appointments Counsellor will schedule an appointment that best meets the urgency and complexity of your situation.
The Appointments Counsellor system has been designed to meet the needs of clients who need to see a counsellor before the next regular full appointment with a counsellor is available.

Critical Incidents
Definition
"Critical Incident" means any situation simultaneously affecting a number of University staff or students causing them to experience unusually strong emotional reactions which have the potential to interfere with their mental and/or physical state and with their ability to perform either at the scene or later.
Examples of critical incidents include sudden deaths, serious accidents and assaults.
Response
UCS has a systematic response plan for any such incidents. The
UCS response plan includes appropriate liaison with other University
services via Curtin's standard emergency procedures.
